Goodbye 2016

I'd always thought the saying that life begins at 40, was just something to make old people feel better about themselves. But turns out it's true.

Looking back a year ago, I was in a job that made me unhappy, in a house with a dreadful 1970s carpet and feeling stuck in a rut. Yet, I felt excited about the changes I sensed were about to happen.

In numerology, 2016 is a number 9 year - representing endings, completions and preparation for the next phase.

That couldn't have been more true for me, as I shed the things that didn't serve me and new situations came flooding in. A chapter closed both literally and metaphorically, when I finished writing the first draft of my novel on the same day my divorce was finalised.

Although things didn't always feel easy at the time, I put the past behind me and got ready to move on with my life in every way.

Highlights of 2016:

Started a job that I love in a completely different area of journalism.

Celebrated my 40th birthday.

Went on a fabulous holiday to Morocco with my best friend.

Moved into a beautiful new house.

Received an award for health writing.

Finished the first draft of my book.

Welcomed two new additions to the family - our guinea pigs Bubble and Squeak.

Now, I'm looking forward to 2017 - a universal 1 year in numerology, which represents beginnings, creation and the start of a brand new cycle.  I've been invited to join a new writing group and am aiming to get my novel ready to submit to an agent

There are lots of exciting things planned for 2017 and I'm ready for a few surprises along the way...
